His Skirt was created in fall 2023 in my Design 319 Cloth to Clothing course for our regenerative garment project. This assignment aimed to create solutions for a circular fashion system by using post-consumer waste. Using thrifted men's shirts and other scraps of miscellaneous fabric, I designed and created a male-fitted four-gore skirt with a yoke. Another incorporated design element was to recycle men's clothes and turn them into a traditionally feminine garment thus contributing to this age of redefining masculinity. The model shown here is my good friend who was frustrated with wanting to wear traditionally feminine clothing but could not find male fits for them. This skirt was my solution for bridging both worlds of sustainability and gender-inclusive clothing.
